Actions speak louder than words.
We have been working to set up a resource centre in Noyabondor. The sole purpose of this centre is to carry on some welfare activities for our local people of Noyabondor area. To materialise this objectives we have acquired a community building in Noyabondor Bazar as we need a place to set up our services centre.
The building we have occupied now was in a state of serious disrepair, so we have spent more than 5 lak Taka to make the building useable. The repair work has been completed, and a tubewell has been installed by UpozillaParishod. Very soon we shall begin our various activities in the centre, which are as follows:
1. The centre will be called “Patagar”, O Sheba Kendro: (Library and Welfare Services Centre). There are three rooms in the building.
2. We have set up our office in one room. All the activities will be carried out from the office. We have employed a centre manager who works on our behalf to deliver the proposed services to our local people.
3. We have set up a Patagar (Library) in the bigger room in which about 30 people can sit. We aim to keep newspapers, magazines and books of all kinds so that local people can spend their leisure time in this library.
4. We have set up a medical room (surgery) in the third room. We aim to provide some healthcare service to our local people, particularly medical care will be provided to children, women and elderly people. We will employ at least two doctors – one man, one woman doctor – to see people at least two days a week.
5. Also we aim to hold some training programmes for unemployed young people in our area.
6. Our centre will be a meeting point for our members while in Bangladesh.
Also it will be a first point of contact for our area in order to get our attention and potential service / support.
